Wolves’ McDaniels scores playoff career-high 25 in Game 2 loss

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jaden McDaniels scored a playoff career-high 25 points, but the Minnesota Timberwolves fell short, losing 114-106 to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday night.

McDaniels, a 6-foot-9 forward, was 10-of-17 from the field and added nine rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards added 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 11 rebounds.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Anthony Davis added 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Russell Westbrook had 20 points off the bench.

The Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the series and will host Game 3 on Thursday night.

McDaniels has been a key contributor for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 11.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He has also been a key part of the team’s defense, averaging 1.7 steals per game.
