Dujardin withdraws from Paris 2024 Olympics
Six-time Olympic medalist pulls out days before Games
British Equestrian and British Dressage confirm withdrawal following complaint
Three-time Olympic gold medal winner Charlotte Dujardin has shockingly announced she has pulled out of Paris 2024 just days before the start of the Games.
The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) and British Dressage (BD) confirmed the withdrawal on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Dujardin was expected to compete for gold in the individual and team dressage competitions in Paris.
The BEF and BD said the withdrawal followed an official complaint made to the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
The nature of the complaint has not been disclosed, but it is understood to relate to a video footage of Dujardin's horse, Gio, that was posted on social media.
Dujardin is one of the world's most renowned dressage riders, having won six Olympic medals, including three golds.
She won team and individual gold medals at the London 2012 Games on horse Valegro, and repeated the feat in the individual event at the Rio 2016 Games.
Dujardin's withdrawal is a major blow to Team GB's hopes of success in the dressage competition in Paris.
